Welcome baby Khi!

Born on June 15th with the same specs as his daddy, 7 lbs. 3 0z., 21 in. long and man o' man is he cute!

Proud mama.

Proud papa.

Proud aunt.

Proud cousin. Hey, how long till this guy can play catch?

Zoobies

Eric, Sally and Bennett have a zoo pass again this year and they have been nice enough to invite me along for some fun family time and interesting animalia.

Even though it was a pretty cold day we were totally up for it. Besides, we practically had the zoo all to ourselves and the animals are more active in colder weather so it was a great day to be there.

I can't wait to see the amimals.

This little monkey was obsessed with Bennett's monkey backpack.

I think this picture is cute for a few reasons, first is because we have an old picture of mom holding David up to this same drinking fountain, of course that was a few years ago :) The second reason I think this pic is cute is cuz Eric and Bennett are just cute, and third, I think Eric and I kinda look alike when we have our hats on...I'm not the only one who thinks so.

It would take a loooooong scarf to cover those guys' necks.

Bennett's first carousel ride, after that he kept asking to go back and ride the elephant.

I thought the golden eagle was super cool.

Unlucky 13?

Today is Friday the 13th and although most people I know, myself included, are not superstitious it can still be fun to play it up. However, in reality Friday the 13th is my lucky day. I was born on a Friday the 13th so it's obvious why it's MY lucky day but what I must point out to all of you is that if you love me as much as I think you do then according the the law of substitution, Friday the 13th is YOUR lucky day too. Your welcome :) Happy Friday the 13th, y'all!

My New Phone

A few weeks ago it was, for me, that time again - a time we all dread but anticipate at the same time, a time that, for most, comes around all too soon yet not soon enough, the time when you need to carry your phone charger everywhere you go in order to revive the ever-dying battery, when the pocket in your purse, or pants, has a permanent imprint of your phone, and, most importantly, when it's time for the free upgrade.... when all these moons align, the sign's can't be ignored any longer, the universe is telling you, "It's time to get a new cell phone". Yikes, for someone as technologically challenged as I am this is a daunting task. I spend the entire two years of my phone contract figuring out how to use the various features on my phone, seriously...and I have never even owned a camera phone. Don't laugh, for some of us, simpler is better. I don't know what prompted the surge of courage but this time I decided I was going to man-up and at least get a camera phone, so, I did. I got a Nokia 6263, complete with a 1.3 megapixel camera, mp3 player, FM radio, etc. I realize for some of you this is childs play, for me it was a bit overwhelming but I was excited and up for the challenge. I promptly downloaded some new ringtones (a talent I had mastered from my previous phone) and started assigning them to the appropriate callers, I took a picture or two, but other than that I was at a loss so I didn't do much else with my phone, just the usual text message here and there. However, it only took a few days with my new phone to realize that there was going to be a problem, I was charging it way too often... if I didn't use it at all I could get 36 hours out of the battery, but if I used it minimally I was lucky to get 24 hours. Are you kidding me, this is a new phone and already I'm carrying my charger around in my purse!! Argh, back to the phone store...again. However, this time I was armed for battle because now I had researched battery life on all the phones and I brought with me a list of acceptable options. The sales people were very nice about the whole thing, so I didn't have to get nasty (as I can do when necessary) they were more than happy to help me with yet another upgrade. Ya, you read right, I upgraded AGAIN and this time I scored the mother load- I ended up with a PDA phone, the T-Mobile Dash!!! I can't believe I was so brave, I just went for it and suprisingly, I couldn't be happier with my new phone. Now in the spirit of full disclosure, I don't want to take more credit than I deserve so I must admit that I didn't sign up for email or internet...not yet anyway. Don't roll your eyes, this is a growing process for me and I think I've grown tremendously over the last few weeks...technologically speaking of course. I'm not techy so I can only handle one growth spurt at a time, but I'm no longer afraid of the unknown and I think it's safe to say that I will never be without a PDA phone from this point on. So take that, universe.

Pleasantly Surprised By A Lovely Evening Out

A couple of nights ago I went to a concert with my parent's and my friend, Laura. It was an invitation from my mom that initially I declined until Laura expressed interest in going. Immediately enticed by the possibility of a girl's night out (plus dad) I changed my mind and we bought tickets. I had never heard of Celtic Woman before that...well I'd probably heard that name here and there but didn't pay any attention. So originally I was more excited to spend time with my parents and Laura than I was to see Celtic Woman, but Laura just kept telling me how excited she was to go and it started to rub off on me and by the time Tuesday night rolled around I was pretty excited myself, except that I had no idea what I was going to see. Now, after seeing them, I have to tell you that sitting there in Kingsburry Hall, listening to the music of Celtic Woman was one of the most beautiful and enjoyable experiences I've had in a long time. They performed so many songs that I love and each one was done so beautifully, I even got a little teary eyed during one song, which is huge since I'm not a cry-er. It was the kind of music that makes you want to be a better person. I was not ready to be done when the concert ended, and I am definitely going to buy their CD and watch their specials on PBS. I just wanted to let all of you out there know that if you ever need to hear something lovely and inspirational Celtic Woman is at the top of my list.

Better Late Than Never

It's been almost a month since Betty's bowling party but I figured better late than never as far as getting some pictures posted. The party was super duper fun, as expected, but this year we had almost everyone there which made for a little bowling and a lot of chaos. The youngers ones bowled one game but then got boared and headed for the miniture golf course in the next room, which meant someone had to forego their bowling in order to watch that group, thanks dad! Even though the ratio of adults to children was 5 to 4, we still had a tough time keeping track of everyone. All in all it was a fun time but I'm thinking next year a more contained envoronment might be the way to go.
