We're Gonna Score Tonight!

It's finally here, Betty's Annual Birthday Bowling Party! My mom only asks for one thing every year for her birthday and that one thing is that we all come home and go bowling at the local bowling alley, which we are all only too happy to oblige. This yearly event has become one of our most anticipated family traditions and I truely feel like a kid on Christmas Eve knowing that tomorrow is the day. I know I probably won't win the giant Hershey bar that my mom always brings for the winner...I know, I know it's her birthday but she always brings the prize, although she's usually the winner so she's really just bringing herself a big candy bar. You gotta love Betty! Next year I would really love to have my own bowling ball, maybe then I would have a chance at winning that Hershey bar.

The HM Twins

Reagan and I have been best friends since we were sophmores in high school, I think it was a project in health class on the lungs where we first bonded. We shared a bedroom for 4 years in college and had most all of our classes together, in fact since we were always together most people on campus never knew which was which, we were just Reagan and Lisa. It was a sad day when we had to split up to go to different grad schools, I remember calling her after my first day of orientation bawling my eyes out because I was so scared, and of course she knew just what to say to make me feel better. Now, we have lived in different states for the past 6 years and have had many 4+ hour phone conversations. In all these years we have never had one fight, and we always remember each other's birthday. I don't know how many people have ever had a friend like this but I am so grateful that I do. From one HM twin to the other, "I love you, babe."

Warning, Beginner on the Slopes!

I have found a new favorite hobby and man oh man am I addicted. I love snowboarding!!! I have lived in Utah my entire life and, out of obligation, have tried skiing a few times but if I'm being honest I've gotta say that rarely on those excursions was I enjoying myself. It was a disaster each and every time I tried, so eventually I gave up resolved that although I was living within and hour of some of the best ski resorts in the world I would not be riding their slopes. And so it went until last year when I bravely strapped a rented snowboard to my nervous feet and headed down Majestic at Brighton. It wasn't pretty and, not surprisingly, I fell, a lot, BUT...what was surprising was that I was having fun! It was an awesome day and since then I've bought my own sic gear and try to get up the mountain as often as possible. I still fall down on a regular basis, but Ben always tells me that, "if your not falling then your not trying hard enough." I guess I must be trying harder than everyone.
